About Brittany

My name is Brittany Janes, and I graduated from Pacific University in Hillsboro in 2019 with my PsyD in Clinical Psychology. I chose to stay a “generalist” in my studies in order to feel competent working with a wide variety of clients. I prioritize my journey in cultural competence by engaging in classes and self-paced research furthering my understanding, so that I continue working effectively with clients of many backgrounds and belief systems.
I use a nonjudgmental, collaborative approach when working with clients. I tend to focus on patterns of how a person reacts to stressors (either with thoughts or behaviors), explore alternative responses to stressors to have better results, and also help clients gain understanding from a generational and systemic lens of why certain thoughts and behaviors occur in the first place. I also explore client narratives, such as the belief that "people don't like me if I speak my truth," and make connections with how that specific belief may shape the person's experiences. People often seek out relationships that confirm existing beliefs, yet long for different relationship dynamics. That is where I can help people connect the dots so that change may come a little easier. Common presenting issues include anxiety and depression, grief, relationship stress, communication struggles, and trauma. I work with both adults and teenagers.

I also want to explicitly state that I am open to working with other mental health professionals, as well as first responders. We all need support sometimes, including the people who are out there trying save the world.

On a personal note, I moved out to Columbia County from Clackamas County in 2022. I love the open air, beautiful landscapes, and abundant wildlife. I have started a bird watching hobby since moving out here, and apparently home a flock of hummingbirds on my property. I find it very entertaining watching them!

Although I work with clients anywhere in Oregon, I tend to prioritize my availability for new clients residing in Columbia County, which includes St. Helens, Scappoose, and Rainier.
